Real Estate Schools Educational Offer

In order to become a realtor, one must first get a state license. And in order to get a state license, one must first pass a realtor licensure exam which can be given only to those who have undergone real estate schooling. Real estate courses are mostly offered in an online program or distance learning although there are some that are offered as special programs or workshops. After passing the licensure examination, the National Association of Realtors may classify you as either of the following: accredited buyer representative, accredited land consultant, certified commercial investment member, certified property manager, certified real estate brokerage manager, certified residential specialist, certification for Internet professionalism, certified international property specialist, counsellor of real estate, graduate of the realtor’s institute or real estate professional assistant.

Online Program / Distance Learning

Please note that although a certain school offering an online program or distance learning is based in Florida, it is okay for a Californian to be enrolled there and get accreditation from California as long as Californian real estate law is explicitly taught in the curriculum. Remember that each state in the United States has its own real estate laws. There are also courses offered for renewing one’s license. You will know about the appraiser liability, common fraud, disclosures, property evaluation whether molds, ants or dilapidated paint are existing, construction details and trends, site planning, topography, soil conditions, site preparation, foundations, basements, slab-on-grade, exterior finishes, insulation, ventilation, the concepts of heating, cooling and air conditioning systems and electrical systems. You will also learn about the Fair Housing Act, breach of contract, information technology for real estate, reading flood maps and sketch programs using the computer and electronic signatures.

University / College

Real estate courses offered in a typical university or college setting are usually divided into two. These are usually crash courses only that may last up to three months long. One is for real estate salespersons and the other is for real estate brokers. Salespersons take only minimal classes to qualify for a state licensure examination for real estate salespersons. On the other hand, a real estate broker is qualified to own his own brokerage.
